Why do I look so happy? Well I just discovered a new blogging tool that let's me email a photo with text to my blog, and it will automatically publish the photo using the email subject and body copy as the blog title and copy! How friggin' sweet is that?! But here's a tip: make sure to type all of your copy ABOVE the photo attachment for it to appear on the blog-I just made that mistake below. Oopsies!
Now all of my web people out there who blog have a new tool to use! (if you don't already know about it, of course!)

So it's past midnight and I'm in my hotel room feverishly editing all of the AWESOME stuff I filmed for you today at CES. I have come to the realization that since i have to be at McCarran Airport tomorrow morning at 10 am, and the cab lines will be insane, I won't finish the podcast tonight. (Plus, my laptop has run out of disc space and I can't render files! Always a bummer). But I couldn't leave y'all hanging! So here's a preview of the intro with some cool footage in a montage of the stuff you are going to see when I get back to LA and finish this this weekend! Oh, and here are some pictures too!!

Hey Gang! So guess where I am? Ok, so I guess I sorta told you in the title, but I'm in Las Vegas for the yearly Consumer Electronics Show, CES, which is a HUGE industry-only (meaning you have to work in the industry from some angle) trade show debuting the hottest gadgets and electronics that we will all be drooling over for the year to come!

Each year, the International CES attracts the “who’s who” of the technology and related industries, including C-level executives from the entertainment, wireless and consumer electronics (CE) industries. Plus, more than 24,000 industry and corporate buyers use CES as a means to compare and evaluate new products. That's because CES features 30 product categories, including digital entertainment, wireless, digital imaging, computing and networking, audio, video, in-vehicle technology and accessories for the home, office and road.
So while I'm here, I thought I'd bring my little FlipCam and try to get some exclusive access for y'all from the convention floor and post some tidbits. Would ya like that? huh? Would ya? LOL. I'm just excited to be here, geek that I am. And please know that I have NOT forgotten about the iPhone podcast part 2! I took an unofficial hiatus from the GeekGirlKnows blog, but I'm back in 2009 and better than ever! Promise!

So, guess what? I know I've been promising the iPhone podcast for days and days now and your wish is about to come true! Check back today for a 2nd post containing the newest video: GeekGirl's iPhone iLike's and iGripes: Part 1. That's right, people, I have SO much feedback from you all that I had to split the episode into 2 parts! (Maybe even 3...I haven't finished Part 2 yet, so we'll see how long it is). All I have to do is export the final file from Final Cut Pro, which I'm having difficulty with because for some reason, it keeps squishing the picture horizontally, no matter what settings I choose. So I'm going into work today, laptop in hand, and making Kourosh (of RossBlog and John and Ross Show fame, my editor/cameraman extraordinaire at The Tonight Show) help me since he exports all of the videos I produce at work. Hopefully it should be a quick fix, and the video will be posted later today!
In the meantime, I decided to tell you guys that I had quite the learning experience while making this podcast...the green screen, unfortunately, did NOT work out. It turns out that there are so many nuances in making a green screen work, including needing to be like 15 feet away from it so that it doesn't reflect around you in a halo (especially if you have blonde hair like me...it usually picks up the green, and then when you key out the green, it keys out some of my hair!) The bad news is I had to shoot this episode old-school style, but the good news is that I learned a lot about green screens and I will put all of that information in an upcoming episode. Just to tide you over, above is a video with John Melendez and Ross "the Intern" Mathews from The John and Ross Show playing with our new green screen (the very same one I brought home and tried to re-purpose for GeekGirl) for your viewing pleasure. Well, if that blog title didn't excite you, this video will! I'm STILL working on the iPhone podcast...seriously, you guys, I shot like 57 minutes of footage because I had SOOOO much stuff, and it's taking me forever to get the edits and graphics done in between work and all of the after-work activities I've had in the last 2 weeks. So I'm sorry for the delay, but know that I am working on it diligently!
In the meantime, one of the other things that I do when I'm not donning the GeekGirl persona is producing The John and Ross Show, an web-exclusive, completely original web series for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. We post new videos every Monday, and every other week we post and exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at a staff or crew member at the show, and we explore what he/she does that YOU as the audience see on the show each night.
